The Day – McCourts remembered in memorial garden 20 years after tragic deaths

On Sept. 11, 2001, Ruth McCourt and her 4-year-old daughter Juliana McCourt, of New London, boarded United Flight 175 in Boston, bound for Disneyland. They were both killed when their plane was hijacked by terrorists and flown into the World Trade Center’s north tower.

Twenty years after their tragic deaths, family and friends gathered on Friday at the McCourt 9/11 Memorial Garden created in their honor on the grounds of the Lyman Allyn Art Museum to remember the mother and daughter, and all those who died with them in the attacks.

35 Years After Murdering Mom, Riverside Death Row Inmate Dies

CORCORAN, CA – A condemned inmate who was on California’s death row for killing his disabled mother in Riverside County has died, state prison officials announced Wednesday.

Donald Ray Millwee, 68, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday at an outside hospital. His death was due to natural causes, according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Officials did not provide further details.

On March 21, 1990, Millwee was sentenced to death in Riverside County for the 1986 slaying of his mother, Esta Millwee.
